Report

The game was a well spirited display on a sunny afternoon, in Prague 6s Suchdol. The teams were blessed with the presence of a pre-pubescent referee who actually turned out to be pretty good, although admittedly he didnt have much to call. For me personally, turning my ankle half way through warm-up was a bit of a downer but crap happens. Anyhow, ref has had his fag, kick-off awaits... A well tempered and relatively evenly matched game took a turn just before the end of the first half. DHL had been playing with the wind behind them and peppered our goal every chance they got, keeping Radek busy. Their endeavours finally paid off when Chris Johnson, aka Chief, made a very unusual mistake in front of the Partisan goal and was punished with a clinical strike by the crafty South American, Leo. After a brief half time talk Johnson vowed to redeem himself and as the second half began, Johnson moved into central midfield. Although DHL had some good runs (primarily by Leo and Oscar), Partisan were on the attack. Johnson pulled a goal back with a lovely run through the middle. A wicked strike by the Albanian Stallion, Armand was barely blocked by the DHL keeper who was fortunate the ball was straight at him. Marky Mark Child, otherwise known as Yo Bitch also saw a cracking shot slam off the crossbar. It seemed inevitable that Partisan would score and lo and behold just before the final whistle, the man himself, on a mission to redeem the earlier mistake, ran back and forth through a crowd of DHL players, dizzying them and possibly himself and finally slotted home from close range. A game it was indeed and frankly no better song sums it up than the one below. Old pirates, yes, they rob i; Sold I to the merchant ships, From the bottomless pit. But my hand was made strong By the and of the almighty. We forward in this generation Triumphantly. Wont you help to sing These songs of freedom? - cause all I ever have: Redemption songs; Redemption songs. Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our minds. Have no fear for atomic energy, cause none of them can stop the time. How long shall they kill our prophets, While we stand aside and look? ooh! Some say its just a part of it: Weve got to fulfil de book. Wont you help to sing These songs of freedom? cause all I ever have: Redemption songs; Redemption songs; Redemption songs. Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; None but ourselves can free our mind. Wo! have no fear for atomic energy, cause none of them-a can-a stop-a the time. How long shall they kill our prophets, While we stand aside and look? Yes, some say its just a part of it: Weve got to fulfil de book.
