Partisans Prague league campaign got back on track in style after the stutter against Kolovraty the previous week. We were ahead within the first three minutes after Guri was fouled 35 yards out. Ostrowski floated the free-kick over and captain Sheppard leapt highest into the box to loop a firm header over the keeper and into the top right corner. 1-0. Guri was in the mix again 5 minutes later, getting right to the byline on the right hand side of the box and cutting the ball back for Ross to tap in from 6 yards. 2-0. The game settled after that as Sterboholy began to defend in greater numbers, but it meant their lone forward was starved of any decent supply. One optimistic through-ball was chested down by centre-back Parker who skipped past 2 challenges before allowing Sheppard to take the ball off his toe. The captain then flicked a pass into the left channel where Finlay had timed his run perfectly and drilled a controlled finish past the keeper. 3-0. Shortly after there was almost an identikit repeat of the second goal, but this time Rosss blast in was blocked by a defender. The fourth goal was on the way though, and this time it was Burgmans at the heart of it, fresh from his scoring exploits of the previous week. The Flying Dutchman cracked a peach of a 20-yard toe-punted chip in which the keeper managed to parry, but only as far as Finlay who crashed into the box and slotted home. 4-0. There was time for one more before half time as Guri, likely frustrated that everyone was scoring except him, took the initiative, made himself some space, and cracked a 20-yarder in. 5-0. Half Time: Partisan 5 - 0 Sterboholy There wasnt much to say at half time except keep doing what were doing. So we did. Within 5 minutes of the restart we won a free kick 25 yards out in the left channel. Ross curled it in and it slid off Sablacks bouffant bonce onto his shoulder and into the net. 6-0. Guri netted a seventh. Cant remember much about that one to be honest. Subs followed, first Child on for Ostrowski, then Benson on for Sablack and Olubokun on for Ross. The complexion of the game changed a bit in the last half hour. It could be said that Partisan took their foot off the gas a bit, and Sterboholy cracked several long-range efforts in, with Simunek pulling off a string of excellent saves to deny them and maintain our clean sheet. At the same time, the Sterboholians were getting a bit frustrated, their d*ckhead left-back trying to pick a fight with anyone and everyone including, foolishly, Burgmans (Sterboholys big midfield general was heard apologising to the ref for fielding such an idiot). One of the better faster Sterb midfielders also let the frustration get to him and tried to start something with Sheppard, only succeeding in conceding a free kick. It should also be mentioned here that Sheppard had been having a constant battle with aforementioned midfield general and managed to outwit or dispossess his unfortunate opponent every time. Good display from the captain. Finlay completed his hattrick after more fine work from Guri set him up. 8-0. It seems at that point the ref decided enough was enough for the home team and wouldnt let us score any more. A great combination move ended with Olubokun streaking like lightning into the box to tap home a Finlay ball from 3 yards; inexplicably disallowed for offside. Then there was a blatant handball by Sterboholys captain inside the box; we could almost see penalty specialist Parkers chest puffing up as it happened... not given. So it ended 8-0. A very satisfactory win for Partisan and a warning to the rest of the league.
