Report

On a chilly autumn night Partisan met Cosmos F.C. from the Expat league. The game started slow with players on both teams needing some time to get the blood running through their veins. Partisan were hitting long crosses trying to put Caliskaner through on a number of occasions with one even resulting in a busted nose. Partisan found its footing in the 10th min with a terrific give and go between Johnson and Banjo along the right hand flank culminating in a thunderous shot from Johnson, the Englishman shot had the pace but just off on the accuracy. The break came 17 min after the start, a quick through ball by Shapouri put Garcia at the top of the 18 with some space, after a nifty Brazilian back heel, he quickly unleashed a furious shot looping over the goal keeper and into the back of the net. Partisan 1 Cosmos 0. Cosmos were unable to muster anything offensively, they were being held tight by the duo of Nelson and Theodoropoulos in the center and Child and Chaudhury supporting along the wings. In fact they didnt step foot in Partisans 18 for the first half hour. After 30 min Partisan made their first changes with Caliskaner, Shapouri, and Banjo coming off for Maceska, Rimovsky, and Gisler. The subs made their impacts right off the bat with a shot from Maceska resulting in comical deflection off of a Cosmos defender and going into the back of the net. Partisan 2 Cosmos 0. Partisan kept the pressure on and was relentless in the hunt for a third goal and it came just before the half as another mishit clearance from a Cosmos defender under pressure resulted in another own goal. Half Time: Partisan 3 - 0 Cosmos Partisan started the Second half as they ended the first. Cosmos were able to rally for the first 10 min of the second half but were still unable to find the back of the net, Partisans newly formed defense held strong with the addition of Rimovsky and Nelsons tireless efforts. After 60 min Partisan made its second set of subs with Chaudhury, Child, and Garcia coming off for Shapouri, Caliskaner, and Banjo. A sudden boost in offensive power off the bench showed results quickly. Shapouri had shifted from the right more to the center and was hunting for his first Partisan goal. It came in the 73rd min off of a corner kick, the cheeky red-head was quick to scissor in a right footed effort only to have it denied by the Cosmos defender; the ricochet launched the ball back in his direction and like a 14 year old ballet dancer he jumped to his feet to slice it past the keeper with his left. Partisan 4 Cosmos 0. Partisan was not done yet: continuous runs by Banjo and Child along the flank kept the pressure on Cosmos and again a great pass to Caliskaner in space allowed him to fire his well deserved goal past the Cosmos keeper. Partisan 5 Cosmos 0 and if you thought that there could be no more came the highlight of the night. Chaudhury had subbed back on for Johnson and was playing forward, pushing up he was hungry for what had eluded him for so long. It came in the 90th min with Child making a blistering run through the Cosmos defense, Chaudhury being quick to react made a parallel run but coming from the opposite direction. Child made a terrific pass right into the path of Chaudhury with the young gun not being shy to make it 6-0 in favor of Partisan.
