Report

Needing a win against IFC to keep the league dream alive, Partisan got off to a grand start... Pedersen volley from a corner, 1-0 Partisan. IFC hit back, scoring a long-range nothing effort from 20 yards. 1-1 Partisan won a free-kick just outside the left side of the IFC box. Sheppard stuck it top right hand corner, came off the post, hit the hapless keeper and went in. 2-1 Mix up at the back for Partisan saw IFC player jump in the box unmarked for an easy header. 2-2. Finlay then aggravated an old knee injury, carried off unable to continue. 20 mins gone. IFC score another long range volley from outside the box. 3-2. Ref gives an incredulous penalty decision against Rice for a handball in the box. Clearly ball to hand. Unluckily, IFC score the penalty. Half Time: Partisan 2 - 4 IFC Deep cross by Sheppard, met by Taghavi at the back post who nods down to Pedersen to tuck away his second of the game. 4-3. Game on again! Partisan rush to get the ball from the IFC net. Second half is constant Partisan pressure, however Simunek, carrying a weak ankle, aggravates it further whilst dealing with a backpass and has to leave the field. Second Partisan player unable to continue. Klopot volunteers to go in goal. IFC player breaks free down left side and somehow manages to squeeze the ball past Klopot, who stood up well, and a desperate Rice on the line who almost kept the ball out. Unlucky again. 5-3. The game seems to be slipping away. 75 mins. Rice more than compensates by meeting a Guri low ball minutes later. Tap in 5 yards out. 5-4! IFC let Partisan have a sniff and then confiscated the proverbial carrot by scoring two more before the finish. Fresh-legged IFC left back (looked more like a scrum half) half-volleyed from 20 yards. Not likely to ever repeat the effort. 6-4. Followed by a neat move, striker latched onto a through ball, defence caught napping. Final goal. 7-4 IFC.
