Report

The game began well with Partisan looking by far the more dominant, however, it was DHL who almost took the shock early lead when the whistle-happy ref awarded a free kick just outside the box. Debutant keeper Inning lined up his wall well but the free kick was very well placed and swung wide deceptively, only to hit the post and bounce back into the area. A DHL player had a golden opportunity to put it in the net but instead sent his shot over the bar. Partisan woke up and began to string some good passes together but moves seemed to break down in the final third with very little test for the keeper. There was one minor flare-up early on between Sheppard and one of DHL's feisty spaniards, which earned them both yellow cards; things settled down after that. On 30 minutes Partisan made their ubiquitous substitutions with Benson, Child and Burgmans coming on for Lillard, Sheppard and Bugel. There was immediate impact as the crafty Dutchman sent Guri wide on the right who took it from a tight angle and buried the ball through the keeper. Partisan now dominated the half and sent wave after wave of attacks which finally brought another goal just before half time, a quick cross possibly meant for Benson went just over him and ricocheted off the unsuspecting DHL player, although Olubokun tried to claim the goal. Half Time: Partisan 2 - 0 DHL The second half started brightly for Partisan with Benson coming agonizingly close when his header courtesy of a perfect Guri pass went crashing off the crossbar. Benson had another glorious chance in a goalmouth scramble but couldnt get the shot off with enough power, while Child was on hand to pounce on a lose ball on the edge of the 18, blasting his shot through the legs of a DHL defender, their keeper doing well to tip it round the post. Partisan were rarely threatened by the DHL team, with Inning making an assured debut at the back, and Parker and Johnson providingexcellent cover. Although a few more chances came for Partisan the final score stayed at 2-0. A little disappointed we didn't score a few more, but content with the clean sheet.
