The game took place in gale-force winds; Partisan anxious to end a run of three straight defeats, KP's Medics determined not to get another hammering. Partisan handed debuts to Corey Moffat who went straight in at centre-back, and Daniel Mardziev on the bench. The Medics started with the wind behind them making it uphill work for Partisan; Guri and Moffat were rock-solid at centre back though, allowing fullbacks Child and Klopot to push up when they could. One surging run from Child took him past two Medics before KP intercepted on the edge of the Medics box to put the ball out for a corner. Kemila sent the ball in and Klopot rose almost unmarked (but he's a tall lad anyway) to head in. 1-0 to Partisan. Buoyed by the goal Partisan continued to push up, but we were caught on the break. A ball over the top released one of the Medics who knocked it on and raced into the box before flashing a shot across goal and into the top-left corner with little chance for Simunek to do anything. 1-1. That clean sheet will come someday Partisan were still pushing forward however, and it took some last-ditch interventions by the Medics to break down our attacks. Within the space of 5 minutes Sheppard and Rokaas were both flattened in the Medics' box, while Johnson almost suffered an Eduardo as he burst forward from midfield and the Medics' left-back took out his ankle. Half-time, 1-1. Johnson came off at half time with Sheppard dropping back to midfield and Benson coming on up front; Child took a breather with Mardziev coming on at right back. With the wind behind us we went on the offensive, looking to restore our lead. A long throw-in from Sablack fell to Benson but his shot was gathered by the keeper; a couple more near-misses from the big guy until a superb cross-field ball from Sheppard sent him into the box. The keeper committed, Benson almost went arse-over-tit trying to go round him, but got his shot off to make it 2-1. The chances kept coming. Kemila sent a curling free-kick over the wall that rocketed off the top of the bar while Moffat had a couple of headers over the bar from corners. With 15 minutes to go Medics were pushing more men forward in the hunt for an equaliser and after we tried to play the ball out of our own box, it came. A challenge from the right saw the ball loop over into the box and with no Partisan claiming, the Medics' little winger was able to slide in for his second of the game. Frustrated, Partisan threw everything at the Medics as the clock ticked down. A through ball sent Rokaas clear but he hesitated a second too long and the keeper blocked; Child sent a looping cross over to the far post but it was beyond the inrushing Benson. Final score 2-2; an improved performance, glad to end the run of defeats, but frustrating to concede the equaliser so late in the game.
